How we handle your personal information.
Last updated: 30 June 2026
Who we are
Reclaim Ministries is a South African Christian ministry operated by Richard Slabbert (the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, Act 4 of 2013 — POPIA). We are based in Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what your rights are. We are committed to handling your information with care and discretion — this is especially important given the sensitive nature of the enquiries we receive.
What information we collect
We collect personal information in two ways:
Contact form. When you contact us we collect:
- Your name (first name is sufficient)
- Your email address
- The subject of your enquiry
- The content of your message
Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address for the sole purpose of sending you occasional ministry updates and articles. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
We do not collect any information automatically when you browse this website, and we do not use cookies or tracking technologies for analytics or advertising purposes.
This website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers. We have no control over how Google processes this data. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Respond to your enquiry
- Connect you with appropriate support, resources, or groups where relevant
- Follow up on prior correspondence where you have asked us to
- Send you occasional newsletter updates if you have explicitly subscribed
We will never contact you for reasons unrelated to your enquiry or subscription, and we will never share your information with any third party for marketing purposes.
Third-party services
This website is hosted on Netlify, which also processes our contact form submissions. When you submit the contact form, your message is transmitted to and temporarily processed by Netlify's infrastructure before being delivered to us. Netlify acts as a data processor on our behalf. Please refer to Netlify's Privacy Policy for details of how they handle your data.
Newsletter subscriptions are managed through Kit (formerly ConvertKit). When you subscribe, your email address is stored on Kit's servers and used to deliver newsletter emails. Kit acts as a data processor on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email, which will remove your address from Kit's records. Please refer to Kit's Privacy Policy for details.
How long we keep your information
We retain correspondence for as long as is necessary to respond to your enquiry and maintain an ongoing pastoral relationship where you have requested one. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so promptly. We do not retain personal information beyond the period it is needed.
Who has access to your information
Your information is accessed only by those directly involved in responding to your enquiry. Given the sensitive nature of what people share with us, we treat all correspondence as strictly confidential. We will never share your personal information with third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your personal information (subject to any legal retention obligations)
- Object to the processing of your personal information
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the contact form. We will respond within a reasonable time.
You may also lodge a complaint directly with South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
